Writing unique content is at the very core of blogging, it is a major factor that will either make or break your blog. Copy others and your blog will disappear into the blogosphere, be unique and watch it flourish. There are various reasons why writing unique content is so important and I’m going to cover what I consider to be the top five reasons.
What Is Unique Written Content?
If we are going to write unique content it might be a good idea to have a little understanding as to what writing unique content really means.
My Definition of Writing Unique Content:
To create witting that is unlike, dissimilar, and original. It is distinct to you and your voice. Ideas may resemble another’s however the presentation, wording, and thoughts are yours alone.
Top 5 Reasons Why Writing Unique Content Is So Important
Reason #1 Backlinks
By writing unique content and I stress unique, readers or other bloggers will be more apt to link to you. Why? Because they’ve not read the same post a million times already and possibly already linked to one very similar already. They will view it as a unique find, different then what others may link to. They will see you as Reason #2, a credible source, and will repeatedly link to your content.
Reason #2 Credibility
One of the most important traits you’ll want to acquire as a blogger is creditability. This is your badge of knowledge and authority to show your not a follower but one who should be followed. Writing unique content will not only give you this credibility but your readers will come back knowing they can trust to learn from you.
Reason #3 Ranking
This is the Holly Grail of blogging, to obtain the best possible page rank you can for each and every post. How do we do this? You got it writing unique content. The why? If your content is too similar to to what’s already been indexed by search engines the possibility of getting on page one is a bit slimmer, not impossible, but slimmer. What’s there is already seen as authority on the subject. However with unique content, written in a new and appealing manner you can achieve page one or even spot one!
Reason #4 Stickiness
There are many, many, niche’s and within each are, well one could only guesstimate at the numbers of bloggers. Competition, it’s there and if you are going to be on the top of the stack you need to make sure what you write gives readers a reason to stay. Writing content that has been done before will have your readers clicking away, they’ve seen it, read it, so there is no point in reading it again. You need to create unique content that readers will want to stay and read. Even if a topic has been done before you have a unique way to present it either better or with a different view.
Reason #5 Character
When you write unique content it’s coming from you and your personality. Bloggers for the most part are faceless, sure we can post picture of ourselves but for others to get to know us it’s threw what we write. Writing unique content will give readers a sense of who you are, a way to connect, and a relationship. Pouring out words like that of another will only blend you in with the rest. You want to be seen as unique, one of a kind, and the way to do that is to write unique.
Talk Back
These are my top five reasons, the ones I try and implement myself. I’m sure you have reasons as well and we’d love to hear them or any thoughts you have on how to write unique content or better yet how you define unique content.

#2 and #5 are probably the most important ones to me. I try to develop quality content so that people will think of me as an authority, and of course I always try to put my own personal style and interpretation into my posts. I think those two are probably integral, and the others will follow.

Love the new look, nice and clean…there’s that old saying that even if you “copy” something–make it your own. And this applies, because it’s not like bloggers can’t talk about the same topic, just do it in a totally different way from the next blogger–or else I think the topic itself becomes redundant..

Covering the same topic is ok as long YOU write it in your own personal view.
Definitely great reasons to have unique content on a blog. Its funny how many times I go to one of the big blogs and see their post and then hours later, smaller blogs have the same article topic with wording only maybe a paragraph has been moved around to make it look new…really lowers credibility in my opinion.

Very nice points. I agree… when operating a blog, it is important to have unique content and include your own opinion. That’s what makes your blog stand out as different and it will make it stick in people’s minds.

Writing unique and original content is very important as it keeps readers stick to the web page and creates a positve impression in the minds of the readers. Also google too likes to visit such web pages.
Writing unique and original content is very important. When having duplicate content, or copied content, not only effect your rankings in Google and other search engines, but it is absolutely pointless. Why would someone read your content when it is published somewhere else?
