Promote Your Blog

I’ve been looking at different ways to increase traffic lately, not only for The Blogger Source but to share with my readers so that they may also benefit. I ran a few experiments by using commenting as a means to generate traffic, with promising signs of success.

The Blogger Source is currently on JohnChow.com top commentator list, as of this writing, and has seen a spike in traffic as a result. A few comments were duplicates though, sorry John, as the site froze and I hit Submit again. If you’ve not heard of him or never taken a look at his site you should hop over there. He doesn’t always put up useful info, but when he does it is top notch and very helpful. Now the experiment I’m going to run here.

UPDATE 2-10-09

I just want to thank everyone for sharing their blogs and also thank you for all the positive emails. I myself have found some new and interesting blogs to follow and I hope you all have as well.

I was going to close this on Feb 8th, as it was just an experiment, but since there are still people wanting to promote I’ve decided to leave it open for now.

So please promote your blog, let others know about this, and do take time to visit those who are also promoting. Some great sites there.

The Experiment

The idea is to combine commenting and promotion. While this site is nowhere on the level of John’s, the idea is still relevant.  I also use Top Commentator but instead I will use this post as a means of promotion, this will allow for a greater number of blogs to be promoted using the comments section. As a bonus you’ll be getting backlinks which is all important.

What You’ll Do

In the comments section below promote your blog. Tells us what your blog is about, is it for a good cause, entertainment purposes, educational, or just for fun. Why should we visit it? Who are you? Whatever you want to write to promote your site.

The Guidelines

- This will be a week long experiment – Feb 2nd to Feb 8th

- All comments will be moderated. If your promotion doesn’t show right away this is why.

- Any objectionable promotions WILL BE DELETED.

- Keep promotion short. Stories won’t be approved.

- Free to use URL in comments box, in fact I recommend it, this is a promotion.

The Point Of This

My reason for this experiment is to:

1. Generate traffic both here and for those promoting.

2. Allow readers and myself to discover new and interesting blogs.

3. Build community and relations with other bloggers.
